Honeycomb paper wrap is a die-cut kraft paper on a roll that expands into a three-dimensional hexagonal lattice as you pull it. It is a direct replacement for bubble wrap and plastic void fill on the pack bench: you wrap the product in it, or scrunch it into a carton as fill, and the whole parcel then recycles as paper.

How it works
The paper is die-cut with slits so that when it is pulled off the roll it opens out, the slits spreading into open hexagonal cells. Wrapped around a product with overlapping layers, those cells absorb and spread an impact and then spring back. Because the protection is structural, it keeps working under the sustained pressure of being stacked, where bubble wrap and air pillows slowly flatten. The trade-off is moisture: wet paper softens and the cells collapse.
Using honeycomb wrap
- Mount the roll on a dispenser stand at the pack bench so it pulls and pre-expands as it comes off.
- Wrap the product in two or more overlapping layers, with extra turns at corners and edges.
- Secure with a strip of paper tape, so the wrap and the tape recycle together.
- Fill remaining void in the carton with scrunched wrap so the product cannot move.
- Seal the carton with water activated tape for a single-material parcel.
Honeycomb wrap vs the alternatives
- vs bubble wrap: comparable cushioning for courier drop heights, better under stacking, kerbside recyclable. Bubble wrap wins on puncture resistance and in the wet.
- vs air pillows: honeycomb does not deflate on a puncture and does not need a machine to inflate. Air pillows are lighter and cheaper per litre of void.
- vs loose fill (paper or starch): honeycomb wraps and locates the product; loose fill only fills space around it.
- vs a honeycomb padded mailer: the wrap is the flexible roll format for wrapping and filling; the mailer is the ready-made envelope.
